Labradorite Mala Necklace
A labradorite mala and a grey afternoon in Washington
The scene below is a story, not a review from a buyer.
The case with the dark stones
Paul volunteered one afternoon a month at a small museum desk in Washington, DC. The case he liked best held feldspar, including a chunk of labradorite that did nothing until you stepped sideways. Then a blue flash sat on the surface and vanished when you stepped back. Children tried to catch it. He liked telling them the flash had a name, labradorescence, and that it was the stone, not a trick. On the bus home he thought a necklace of that material would be a good secret: plain until it moved.
What the listing actually says
PJ Teera Gems sells a knotted labradorite mala necklace from India. The live page is brief. It names a knotted mala of labradorite and places the shop in India. It does not, in the short text, lock a bead count or a millimetre size the way some neighbouring mala pages do. So this story will not invent 108 or 8mm for it. Look at the photographs and the specification lines on the product page and let those be the facts. Knotting means cord between beads, the usual build for a counting strand. Labradorite is a feldspar. The blue or gold flash shows on some beads and hides on others. If a bead looks plain in a photo, tilt is part of the stone's nature.
The necklace is for wearing and, if it is built as a mala, for counting. It is not an answer to a question you have not asked out loud.
How people traditionally wear a knotted mala
If you count, use one hand, one bead at a time, and do not cross the guru bead. If you wear it, wear it as a necklace and take it off for the gym and the sink. Feldspar can chip at a thin edge, so a cloth bag beats a jumble of keys. Wipe it. Do not soak it. People who keep malas for prayer usually give the strand a hook by the door or the bed, a place that makes the practice easy to start. The museum flash is a pleasure. The practice, if you take one up, is separate and enough on its own.
Shipping
The shop ships from India. Its product pages show free shipping to the US and the UK and a modest charge for many other countries, with international delivery often around 7 to 12 days and tracking. Because this page is short, read it again on the day you order.
